INTRODUCTION 
 
This is a paper on the Geometry and Properties 
of Geodesic Domes and Oct-Tet Structures. 

The ground work of this study  
is the work of R. Buckminster Fuller.  
His is the Original Genius;  
the Prime Investigation and Enunciation  
of Energetic/Synergetic Geometry  
upon which Geodesic Domes are Based.  



I have been enthused about Geodesic Domes
since the early 70's -
seeing the film Silent Running,
and news reports about the Expo Dome,
then seeing Bucky at Texas A&M
and reading books by and about him.



This paper is the result of my quest 
for my own Geodesic Dome.

In Geodesemetry - 
I am working to assemble 
a compendium of knowledge 
on Geodesic Domes and Octet Structures, 
present it in a Geodesic way 
to further understanding,
and provide a resource 
for those who want to build them.

This is a work in progress...
a continuing effort.

My research has revealed some excellent resources.
These are listed in the Bibliography.
Bucky's books and patents 
and Hugh Kenner's Geodesic Math 
are primary.

My efforts here
are toward advancing 
this techology and craft.

Over time,
As I have designed, experimented,

and as this study has proceeded,
My goal has coalesced  into trying to develop
the simplest effective Geodesic Dome possible
and then present it to the public in a manner 
that takes advantage of the digital age.

I aim to provide a service industry 
with a turn key approach ..
select a model, pick a location
and we will be in and out in a day.

That's the vision... 
we'll see where that goes.

My Long Term Interest is  
the Development and Deployment 
of Large Scale (City Size) Environmental Valves  
for use on the Earth, Moon, Mars and in Interplanetary Space  
in order to create Self-Contained Biospheres.



Filtering and Using  
Locally Available Materials and Energy 
to Form a Habitat for Humanity 
with an  "Natural-Healthful" "Earth Like" 
environment
including flora and fauna 
to assist in Colonization and Terraforming. 

Providing shelter for man where ever he may go.
 
It is to that end  
that this work is dedicated.
